Good Evening La Promesa Families. To honor our veterans, we are having a Salute to Veterans! On Monday November 13th at 9:00 a.m., we are inviting veterans to come to La Promesa to share their stories and wisdom with our students. We'll be serving coffee and donuts as well. If you are a veteran and available to attend, please call our office at 505-966-2400 to RSVP. We are also asking for pictures from the community of our veterans to display. Students may wear may costume,s but they must be school appropriate costumes--no weapons or blood and masks can only be worn during the parade. Families are welcome to join us. October 24th, Give Drugs the Boot, wear western clothes. October 25th, be Too Healthy for Drugs, wear athletic clothes. October 26th, Hats Off to Being Drug Free, wear a hat or cap. October 27th, Have the Super Power to Live Drug Free, wear super hero clothes. October 30th, Sock it to Drugs, wear your favorite socks. October 31st, Say BOO to Drugs, wear a costume. Good Evening La Promesa Families. We are happy that Parent Teacher Conferences have returned this year. Conferences will be this Thursday and Friday, October 12th and 13th. Belen Consolidated Schools (BCS) is pleased to announce a special Town Hall event that provides the community with an opportunity to meet and interact with the candidates running for the BCS School Board. This event aims to foster transparency, engage the public, and enable voters to make informed decisions in the upcoming school board election. During the Town Hall meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 5:30 pm, in the Belen Consolidated Schools boardroom located at 520 N. Main Street, the candidates for the BCS School Board will be invited to address the community. Judge John Chavez will serve as the moderator and will facilitate a question-and-answer session where the candidates will have the opportunity to respond to questions posed by Judge Chavez and developed by the District to provide candidates to share their vision for the Belen Consolidated Schools. BCS is also providing the community with the opportunity to provide questions that will be asked of the candidates. All submitted questions will be vetted by the District for appropriateness. Submissions chosen will be added to the list of questions asked by Judge Chavez. Questions can be submitted through Friday October 13.. We'll have songs, dances and presentations from countries around the world. The performances will start at 9:30, but we ask that families come earlier to check in through our security system. Good Evening La Promesa Families. To help improve communication between home and school, we are using Class Dojo schoolwide this year. Class Dojo is a free app that you can download on your cell phone or other device. Teachers and families can send messages on the app, and teachers can send information to families too. Our Principal, Ms. Montoya, has a page as well as all our teachers. You will receive, if you haven't already, invitations to join all you child's teachers' pages and to the principal's page. Good Afternoon La Promesa Families. We had a false fire alarm this afternoon. We evacuated the building quickly. The Fire Department arrived and said there was no fire, and we were able to enter the building again. Students were safe at all times.
