Dear Parents and Guardians of 5th and 6th grade students,
Our research team is partnering with LA PROMESA Elementary School on March 26th, 2026 to conduct the New Mexico Youth Opinions for Understanding Their Health (NM-YOUTH) survey. Your child will be asked to complete an anonymous survey, which takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The questions will ask about various health behaviors with a specific focus on e-cigarette use (or vaping).
If you have any questions about the study, the research team, how we protect student data, please contact us at via email at research@nmyouth.com; or via phone at (505) 218-6203. You can also visit nmyouth.com to view the survey questions and common FAQ’s regarding the study.
We are using opt-out consent processes for this study. If you are comfortable with your child participating, you do not need to take any action.
If you do not want your child to participate, please let us know by March 13, 2026 by filling out the opt-out survey sent home today.

Good evening La Promesa Families. This March we are going to be selling Lucky Grams here in the office. Students can send a Lucky Gram with a message and a lollipop to their friends and staff members here at school. The grams cost $1.00 and the proceeds will go to our office activity account for staff appreciation.

It’s Dr. Seuss’s Read Across America Week! We have fun, reading themed activities for each day. Starting tomorrow with “Wear pajamas and cozy up with a good book”. On Tuesday we have “Color your story and wear your favorite color”. Wednesday is athletic clothes day with “Reading jogs your mind”. On Thursday, wear a shirt with school appropriate words so we can “read each other’s shirts”. Friday we will soar like Eagles and wear our Belen school colors. It’s going to be a great week of celebrating reading.
¡Es la Semana de Lectura por América del Dr. Seuss! Tenemos actividades divertidas con temática de lectura para cada día. Empezamos mañana con "Ponte pijama y ponte cómodo con un buen libro". El martes tenemos "Colorea tu cuento y viste tu color favorito". El miércoles es el día de ropa deportiva con "Leer ejercita la mente". El jueves, ponte una camiseta con palabras apropiadas para la escuela para que podamos "leer las camisetas de los demás". El viernes volaremos como águilas y vestiremos los colores de nuestra escuela Belén. Será una gran semana para celebrar la lectura.

Good Afternoon La Promesa Families. In honor of Presidents’ Day, we will not have school this Monday, February 16th. We hope you all enjoy the three day weekend, and we’re looking forward to seeing out students back on February 17th.
We would like to remind parents that when dropping students off in the mornings, if you park in the parking lot rather than wait in the drop off line, you need to walk your child to cafeteria or the front entrance. Please do not let students walk across the parking lot by themselves. Thank you supporting our students’ safety.

We have computers with internet access, a washer and dryer, and a shower available for our community. We also have a clothing and a food bank. Please come by our office to avail yourselves of any of these resources.

Good Morning. Hope you all have had a good break. We go back to school next week! Cheri and Elexus will be working 7:30-4:00 starting Monday January 5th. Teachers will also return January 5th and will be working 8:00-4:00 both Monday and Tuesday. EAs will return on Tuesday January 6th and also working 8:00-4:00. An email was sent this morning with the schedule for those two days. We have trainings scheduled with District Office staff starting at 8:00 both days.
