Good Morning La Merced families, I wanted to let you know there was an alarm at La Merced this morning. The fire suppression system went off, but there was not a fire. We will be contacting the contractors to help us fix this problem. For safety reasons, we were not able to use the food that was being prepared this morning. However, our cafeteria crew quickly developed a plan B and were able to get breakfast delivered on time from another school site. Students will also be getting pizza today for lunch rather than the Mandarin chicken that was planned. Mr. Mond

Dear La Merced Families, did you know this is teacher appreciation week? In my humble opinion, teaching is one of the most difficult jobs. They have to expertly manage a class of 20-25 students for 6 hours throughout the day. They often stay late or take a bunch of work home with them, and then they deal with the pressure of getting test scores up. They often go home wondering if they could have handled a situation with a student better. If you and your child would like to make any gesture of appreciation for your child's teachers, it will make their day. Hand written notes, drawings, and flowers are always nice. There are also a lot of good suggestions online. Thank you. Mr. Mond

Good evening, Eagle Families,
Belen Consolidated Schools is excited to partner with the Cook Center for Human Connection and their website ParentGuidance.org. This is a mental health resource for parents and provides parents a trusted place to go for real answers, to find support and real help for their children.
This FREE resource offers parents access to licensed therapists delivering different courses for parents on topics like living with a child with depression, identifying anxiety, coping with grief and loss.
Please join us Tuesday, May 7th at 6:00pm for the first webinar in a six-part mental health series. The first webinar is "Social Media-Protecting Your Child". You may watch from home or join our viewing party in the BCS Boardroom.
