This afternoon until 6pm is Family Night at our Book Fair. The Book Fair is open from now until 6pm. All parents and families are welcome to visit. Every student that comes will be entered into a drawing for a boys and a girls book basket!!
6th grade students are testing tomorrow and Tuesday for the NM-MSSA which is the state test. Please see that your child is present to school, on time, and does not leave early. Thank you.
5th graders will NM-MSSA test tomorrow and Friday of this week. This is the state test for both ELA and Math. Our students are ready and we are confident they will do well! Please see that your 5th grader is on time and present at school the next two days.
4th grade students will test in ELA tomorrow, Thursday 4/6, for NM-MSSA, the state test. As there is no school on Friday 4/7 and Monday 4/10, 4th graders will test again in Math on Tues. 4/11. Please see that your child is present and on time as students do best when they test with their homeroom. It's show time! Our students are ready and will make us proud!

3rd grade students did an excellent job with testing today on ELA! We only had 3 students absent! Many students took their time and did their best. Tomorrow is their 2nd and last day of testing and will be on Math. Please be sure that your child is present and on time. Thank you families for your support!

Spring and Class Pictures will take place on Fri. April; 14th. The above link will provide you a PDF of the flyer to order Spring pictures. **Online ordering for SPRING photos ends at 7am DAY OF PICTURES! The PDF is hyperlinked directly to our schools online ordering event. All that needs to be done to go to our online event is to click anywhere on either page of the attached PDF. This will then take you directly to our schools ordering page. You can also access the online ordering portal by going to www.mymjthomas.com and entering our schools event password (located on the 2nd page of this PDF). You may also print this order form and attach a check or cash and bring it in on picture day!
Attention Parents of 6th Graders:
BCS will be holding a spring immunization clinic for all current 6th graders who need Tdap, Meningococcal, and HPV (optional). These immunizations are required for enrollment in 7th grade. The immunization clinics will be held April 13—19th. (Dates very depending on the school).
If you would like your student to receive these vaccinations free of charge, please fill out and return the attached permission slip. Permission slips need to be returned by April 4th. Reminder—your student will not be able to enroll in 7th grade without these immunizations. If you have any questions call the La Merced Nurse at 966-2122.

Check out our February School Newsletter. It is a busy month with a lot of important information to share.
La Merced Elementary will be conducting a lockdown drill on Friday January 27th during the morning hours. This is a practice drill for our lockdown procedures.
2 hour delay for Tuesday. Student arrival time is 10:35 am. Buses will pick up 2 hours later from their normal time. Breakfast will not be served. The office will be open by 9:30 am.
We have reached the Middle of the Year and students in grades 3-6th have completed IMSSA testing, which is our benchmark assessment that prepares students for the end of year state assessment.
To share some data and results with our school community, I am proud to highlight some of our "bright spots." The district goal of 5% growth, which equals about 4 students, was met in the following grades and subjects: (increased to the On Target Level)
*3rd grade Reading--5 students increase
*4th grade Reading--7 students increase (at met our school MOY goal of 40% proficient with achieving 41% at the "On Target" level)
*3rd grade Language--5 students increase
*3rd grade Math--7 students increase
*5th grade Math--8 students increase
*6th grade Math--11 students increase
We have a total of 381 students who achieved growth! Certificates and some special recognition coming soon! Individual student reports will be sent home.

Since we are at the middle of the year point, all students will participate in Istation testing for both reading and math. Istation testing begins Monday Jan. 9th. Please see that your child is present to school on their scheduled day of testing.
