Good Afternoon La Merced Families! As you may already know, starting Monday, November 30th, the school board voted that ALL students will be participating in Remote learning. This means we will no longer be offering the hybrid learning model to any student until further notice. It is important to us that we make this transition as smoothly as possible for our students. Because of the class sizes for our remote teacher, some students will be reassigned to another teacher within the grade level. We are in the process of reorganizing our class rosters and your studentâs teacher will be in contact with you. We will also be sending out a schedule that each grade level will be following as we move forward with remote learning. Also, we are out of devices and are currently waiting for our next order to arrive for those of you who have let us know you still need a device. Unfortunately, these devices are on back order and are taking a lot longer to come in. We will be contacting you when they arrive. If you need internet services, the district has sent out a survey for you to respond to. It is important that you complete that survey, so the district knows what your needs are. I am including the link to this survey for those of you who have not completed it yet. The link to the survey can also be found at beleneagles.org. As we move forward, please make sure your student is logging into their Schoology account for further information from their teacher. During the remote learning, students will be expected to participate in âlive lessonsâ as attendance will be taken based on participation and work completion. November 12, 2020 Confirmed Case of COVID-19: Belen Consolidated Schools has confirmed a student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student attends La Merced Elementary School, which is located in Belen, NM. The areas were cleaned several times. Individuals that were in close contact have been placed in quarantine. All the appropriate steps as per NMPED guidance has been completed. If you feel you have any symptoms of COIVD-19, please contact the Department of Health Coronavirus Hotline at 1-855-600-3453. On Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 11:00 am., Gil Sanchez Elementary School was officially announced as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School.
It is amazing to see that Gil Sanchez will be nationally recognized for all their efforts and success.

School Bus Ridership registration is now online. Bus registrations are posted on our webpage at www.beleneagles.org. From our home page select menu and from the dropdown list select Transportation Information. The Ridership Forms are posted in English and Spanish. As we prepare for the upcoming school year there are many uncertainties. Belen Consolidated Schools is working on preparing for students to re-enter school in the fall. The Public Education Department is working with a task force to provide guidance. The link to access the 2020-2021 Student Calendar that was approved by the School Board is: https://go.aws/37m3V2p. We are anticipating that we will start school as scheduled on August 18th. We are hopeful that it will be in-person with all our students but are preparing for variations that may need to take place do to COVID-19 CDC guidelines. We recognize that students are our foundation and will make decisions that positively impact their learning and well-being.
