GSE-Good evening families. We are off to a great start. We are excited to have our Cohort B students tomorrow. We are still making small adjustments but overall things are falling into place. Just wanted to let you know that in order to stay current with NM PED and BCS safety guidelines we are setting a deadline of Friday, September 11th to make any changes to your child's learning model (Hybrid vs. Remote). This deadline will allow us to fully comply with the guidance set forth by the state. We know it is a difficult time and the safety of your child is our top priority. Hello from the Belen Consolidated Schools Transportation Department. School Bus Ridership registration is now online. Bus registrations are posted on our webpage at www.beleneagles.org. From our home page select menu and from the dropdown list select Transportation Information. The Ridership Forms are posted in English and Spanish. As we prepare for the upcoming school year there are many uncertainties. Belen Consolidated Schools is working on preparing for students to re-enter school in the fall. The Public Education Department is working with a task force to provide guidance. The link to access the 2020-2021 Student Calendar that was approved by the School Board is: https://go.aws/37m3V2p. We are anticipating that we will start school as scheduled on August 18th. We are hopeful that it will be in-person with all our students but are preparing for variations that may need to take place do to COVID-19 CDC guidelines. We recognize that students are our foundation and will make decisions that positively impact their learning and well-being.

Good evening parents, reminder that tomorrow is our school wide celebration of being named a National Distinguished Title I School beginning at 1:00, please join us! Also remember students should wear yellow or red shirts or sweaters for New Mexico pride.

Congratulations are in order for our students who presented art to the Student Juried Art Show at the Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts. 4th grade student Ricardo (Ricky) won an Honorable Mention, and 5th grade student Jade won 1st place. Please try to visit the museum and see all the student art.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 11 is Picture Day! Both class group photos and individual spring photos will be taken. You must send your payment with your student to order a package, there is a separate envelope for each one. We want all our GSE students to show up with bright smiles tomorrow.

Valentine Candy Grams are now being sold in Ms. Nick's 3rd grade classroom for $1 each. Send a message to other students, staff or family. They will be available for purchase everyday until Friday, Feb 14th.

Exciting News for Gil Sanchez Elementary Gil Sanchez Elementary has been chosen as one of the two schools to represent New Mexico this year as a National Title I Distinguished School. The program is a project of the National Title I Association that publicly recognizes schools for their positive educational advances in one of the following three categories: Category 1: Exceptional student performance for two consecutive years Category 2: Closing the achievement gap between student groups Category 3: Excellence in serving special populations of students (e.g., homeless, migrant, English learners, etc.). Gil Sanchez Elementary was chosen under Category 1: Exceptional student performance for two consecutive years. Because only two schools per state can be selected as a National Title I Distinguished School each year, this award is an especially prestigious honor for the school, staff and students. Gil Sanchez Elementary students, community and staff will be honored at the next school board meeting on Tuesday, December 10th at 5:00 p.m. Please join us to help celebrate our success.
