GSE: February 25, 2021 Dear Gil Sanchez Parents and Students: As many of you are aware we will be transitioning back to Hybrid learning next week on Monday, March 1st. In preparation for the re-opening we have been working hard to make sure we do this as safely as possible. We are excited to welcome students back in person. If you have not spoken to your child’s teacher or the office about your preferred model of learning please make sure to call the office ASAP. We will help you with their placement during this transition. If you need bus transportation, please make sure your child is registered. We will be following all safety measures outlined in the NMPED Toolkit. We will follow the same procedures we had in the fall. One added measure of safety is that all rooms now have air filtration machines to ensure proper ventilation. All will be required to wear a mask. Please make sure that your child has a mask that is clean and fits properly each morning. Screening and temperature checks will still take place upon arrival and prior to anyone entering the building. Anyone with a temperature higher than 100.3 will not be allowed to enter the building and will be sent home. At this time parents/visitors are not allowed in the building unless otherwise scheduled by the office or teachers. For arrival, please remain in the drive-thru line. First bell is at 8:45, tardy bell is at 8:50. We will start the screening process at 8:40 every morning. For dismissal, again remain in your vehicle in the drive-thru line. We will get your child or children to you as safely and quickly as possible. You’ll need to make sure to show your “orange pick up card” to the duty staff at dismissal. If you need a new card, we will issue them in the drive thru line in the AM, or you can come by the office during office hours. Please remember that we have “school” 5 days a week. Students are always expected to participate or notify teacher or the office when they cannot attend in person or remotely. In choosing the Remote model you and your child are agreeing to attend virtually when assigned a class meeting and submit work according to the teacher’s requirements. In choosing the Hybrid model you and your child are agreeing to attend two-days a week in person and to continue with Remote learning on the other 3 days of the week. Attendance will be taken daily. Close communication and collaboration will need to continue. As you know the need for a strong parent/teacher/student partnership has been more important than ever before. The good news is practice makes perfect, we have experience with hybrid, we all have experience with remote learning and now this transition will be much easier. We will still have obstacles and in our Gil Sanchez way we will overcome them together with teamwork, patience and understanding. We are looking forward to next week and a strong finish to this historical school year that we will all remember for the rest of our lives! Let’s do this! We are “Gil Sanchez Strong” and we will ensure excellence in all we do. Mrs. Martinez

GSE-Dear Gil Sanchez Parents, This school year has definitely been different than others, but we still want to try and get a yearbook out to everyone so that we can remember this year for years to come. We need your help for this to be successful. Can you please send a photo of your student for the class portrait page? This photo needs to be taken against a solid-colored wall and be from the chest up. Then email it to gilsanchezyearbook2020@gmail.com (please include name of student and grade). If you have any questions or need assistance regarding this, please call 966-1900. Thank you, Yearbook Team

GSE- I want to touch base with each or you regarding attendance. Our attendance policy has been added under documents and in Schoology messages. When school started you should of signed a Hybrid or Remote Learning Contract. Please refer to those as well. I want to thank many of you for doing such a great job with turning in assignments, attending online as required, watching all videos on Schoology and meeting your teacher's requirements. As we are now in full swing we must do better with attendance, participation and completion of work when you are working from home either hybrid (3 days at home) or fully remote (all 5 at home). This is the new norm for school. If you need assistance please contact your child's teacher. I can't stress enough how important it is that you keep in contact with your child's teacher and ensure that your child is keeping up with his or her school work. Also please remember to submit doctor's notes and written parent notes when your child is absent. Regular school hours should be attempted to be kept when possible at home. Regular bedtime is also important at this time. School is in session and we are half way through our first quarter already. We have so much to cover as is with our late start due to COVID-19, so every single day is so important and cannot be wasted. Our district attendance coach is starting to make contact with families that are not complying with attendance contracts. Thanks for your attention to this and let's do our best to continue our hard work as a Blue Ribbon School. Mrs. Martinez
