As the Belen Board of Education begins the process of selecting the district’s next Superintendent, we are seeking input from our staff, guardians, and community. Dear DCE Families and Community,
I am writing to share an important update regarding our move into the new Dennis Chavez Elementary School.
Due to unforeseen circumstances related to the construction and completion of the water tanks that will serve our new school building, our anticipated move-in date has been delayed. Our new planned opening date for the new DCE campus is Monday, April 5, following Spring Break.
While we know this news may be disappointing, especially as our students, staff, and families have been eagerly watching the new school take shape, it is important that all necessary systems are fully completed, tested, and ready before we welcome our Roadrunners into their new home.
Although we would have loved to make the move sooner, there is also something exciting about returning from Spring Break to begin a brand-new chapter together in our beautiful new school. We will use the additional time to make sure our transition is as organized and smooth as possible for students, families, and staff.
As we get closer to the move, we will share additional information regarding the transition, including important dates, procedures, and opportunities for our families to see and celebrate the new DCE.
Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and support throughout this process. We appreciate our DCE community and cannot wait for the day when we can finally say, “Welcome home, Roadrunners!”
