Community Initiative Brings Universal Access and Youth Prevention Education to District Sports Events
Belen Consolidated Schools is pleased to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Valencia County Opioid Remediation Collaborative (ORC) that will make all District athletic events completely free to attend beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. Through this innovative collaboration, every attendee, students, families, and community members, will enjoy universal free admission to all Belen High School sporting events, with no tickets required.
The Opioid Remediation Collaborative (ORC) is a New Mexico public health collaborative that utilizes opioid litigation recovery funds to prevent opioid misuse and support community health. ORC partners with schools, organizations, and community leaders to implement evidence-based prevention programs, education campaigns, and intervention services designed to protect youth and families from the harms of opioid use disorder.
The partnership represents a shared commitment to youth health and community wellness. ORC will underwrite admission costs while implementing evidence-based, age-appropriate prevention education activities at District athletic events. These brief, engaging touchpoints will be woven seamlessly into the game-day experience, ensuring families have access to vital health information in an accessible, supportive environment.

"By welcoming everyone through our gates at no cost, we're strengthening the bonds that make our community strong, and we're providing meaningful prevention education that can make a real difference in young lives."
Attendees can expect a welcoming atmosphere with no scanning, ticketing, or redemption requirements. Prevention education activities will include signage, informational materials, PA announcements, and interactive engagement which are all designed to be informative, non-stigmatizing, and culturally responsive. Participation in prevention touchpoints is encouraged but entirely voluntary.
