Superintendent Perez would like to remind Belen Consolidated Schools parents, staff and community that the district is maintaining all safety measures in the wake of the threats made throughout this state and other states.
The district safety team, the Belen Police Department and our district safety coordinator are meeting regularly in order to keep the highest level of readiness. Schools have been asked to keep all classroom doors locked at all times. Schools have been directed to substitute crises response drills in place of some of the fire drills. Security cameras and door swipe access points are continuing to be installed until all schools are equipped.
A district team will be at every site to assess perimeters and access points. Crises response training is being stepped up and all school sites will be connected to this training.
The superintendent, administrators and safety team are keeping in contact with all pertinent law enforcement agencies including the FBI. The superintendent will be pursuing any local, state or federal charges in any of these kinds of circumstance. So whenever possible, please let students know that this is an extremely serious offense.
Let’s all work together to keep Belen a safe place to be.
