WHERE: old Dennis Chavez Elementary School (19670 NM-314, Belen)
WHO: multiple law enforcement and fire department agencies, Belen Consolidated Schools, Valencia County Office of Emergency Management
Belen Consolidated Schools in conjunction with law enforcement and fire services will be holding an Active Shooter Emergency Response Drill on July 20. Training and set up will be conducted the week of July 17 at the old Dennis Chavez Elementary School campus on NM-314. The schedule is as follows:
- July 17 through July 19: set up
- July 20 (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM) Active Shooter Drill
- Activity will occur at the old Dennis Chaves Elementary School on NM-314, Logsdon Hall, Belen Consolidated Schools Logsdon Hall, and Calvary Chapel.
- Participating entities: BCS school staff, BPD, BFD, LLPD, LLFD, Valencia Sheriff Department, NM State Police, Valencia County EMS. Volunteer fire departments may also participate.
WARNING: simulated gun shots and other loud noises should be expected during the training, especially during the drill on July 20.
