Sinceramente Lawrence Sanchez

Good afternoon H TJ Families. In order to keep our students, families and HTJ staff members safe and healthy, and to follow COVID-19 protocol guidelines and procedures, on Friday, October 30, HTJ will not be celebrating Halloween: teachers will not be having classroom parties; and, candy and food items will not be passed out. We ask that our families please do not send candy or food items to school to pass out to classmates and staff members; and, our staff members have also been asked to not pass out food items or candy. Your help in keeping everyone safe and healthy is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As a result of this repair work needing to be done, all staff and students are being asked to stay home. Your child's teacher will be in contact with you with regards to logging into Schoology and completing any school work that needs to be done for the day. Again, we are asking that all staff and students stay home, do not report to school, on Monday, October 19 due to the City of Belen having to shut the water off at our school site. Hello HTJ Families: I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. I want to send a reminder to families that school is in session 5 days a week (Mon - Fri). And, even though your children only attend in-person learning 2 days a week, they must still log onto Schoology the other 3 days to complete any assignments and watch any videos the teachers have uploaded. Doing this has many benefits for you and your children: staying caught up with school work; receiving credit or grades for completing assignments; and, being proud of yourself for taking responsibility and ownership for completed assignments. The teachers will be taking attendance on the 3 days your children are not attending in-person learning. Therefore, it is very important, that on the 3 days your children are at home, they log onto Schoology all 3 days and complete all assignments for each day. If your children do not log onto Schoology and complete assigments on the 3 days they are not attending in-person learning it is considered an absence and will be marked as such, and credit or grades will not be given. If you have any concerns or questions please talk to your children's teacher or call the school office at (505) 966-2000. Thank you and have a Great Eaglet Day! Mrs. Becker, Principal

Good evening HTJ Families. I would like to take this time to give you an update on devices for our students. I have several I Pads that can go out to students. However, we are having difficulty downloading certain apps onto the I Pads. These apps are an important component for sucessful online learning. The BCS Tech Department is diligently working to solve these issues. As soon they have been resolved the office staff will be calling families. I want to remind our families that, unfortunately, there are more HTJ students needing devices than there are devices. I can only give out one device per BCS family. I have to take into account the fact that some families have students in the district that have already received a device. These families, unfortunately, will not be receiving another one (again, I can only give out one device per BCS family). I know this poses a hardship for many of you and I wish the circumstances were different, but they are not. I can ensure, however, that the HTJ Staff will do everything possible to work with our families to ensure that our students are receiving the best possible education in these dire, stressful and confusing times. I want to thank all HTJ families for their patience and understanding. Please call the school office at (505) 966-2000 with any questions or concerns. We will do our best to help you. Thank you. Good afternoon HTJ Families. The first day for Hybrid Learners (students coming to school 2 days a week) is Tuesday, September 8. Our day will begin at 8:55 AM and will end at 3:35 PM. Please remember that families are not allowed to walk around the school grounds. If you need assistance please call the school office at (505) 966-2000. If you are dropping your child off through the drive-through drop off you will need to stay in your vehicle. A staff member will be conducting a health screening on each HTJ student before they will be allowed to exit the vehicle. If you are walking your child to school you can walk to the front entrance and ring the bell, or walk to the corner of Santa Anita Dr. and North 10th Street. Again, a staff member will be available to assist you and give your HTJ student a health screening before they will be allowed on campus. Parents/Guardians must stay with the student until the health screening has been completed. Staff members will be available to walk your students to their classrooms. All students are required to wear a face covering - face shields are not allowed unless also worn with a face covering. Because families cannot walk their students to their classrooms, please make sure, before your child leave the house, to have identification on your student that includes their first and last name, grade level and teacher name. This will be a tremendous help to our staff members when they are walking students to their classrooms. We look forward to seeing you on September 8. Thank you. Mrs. Becker, Principal

Good morning HTJ Families. Today, August 31 is the first day of school for remote learners (those students learning from home 5 days a week). Your teacher should have called you to set up a day and time for your child to come into the school building for testing. Beginning today (8/31), the office staff will be calling families pick up a device. Please wait for this phone call before coming to the school - and very important, we can only give out 1 device per family. Hybrid learning (those students coming in to school 2 days a week) begins on Tuesday, September 8. The school day begins at 8:55 AM and ends at 3:35 PM. Please click on the link below to learn how to access Schoology. If you have any questions on accessing Schoology please contact your child's teacher or the school office. Thank you. Mrs. Becker, Principal. https://www.loom.com/share/3873f77ae84b4cfdb907ef6802899d79

HTJ Families: Our teachers are excited to begin a new school year. They start coming in tomorrow, August 25. They have their class lists and will be contacting you to set up virtual Parent Teacher Conferences where you can meet them, and they can meet you and your student. The district will be providing our school with some devices, but unfortunately not for every child that needs one will receive one. We will be giving out one device per family and we will be working with our sister school, Central Elementary, to make sure this happens. Thank you for your patience as we all work through so many unknowns. If you have any questions or concerns please call the office at 966-2000. If there is no answer we are either busy or have stepped away from the phone so please call back. Thank you. Mrs. Becker, Principal

As we prepare for the upcoming school year there are many uncertainties. Belen Consolidated Schools is working on preparing for students to re-enter school in the fall. The Public Education Department is working with a task force to provide guidance. The link to access the 2020-2021 Student Calendar that was approved by the School Board is: https://go.aws/37m3V2p. We are anticipating that we will start school as scheduled on August 18th. We are hopeful that it will be in-person with all our students but are preparing for variations that may need to take place do to COVID-19 CDC guidelines. We recognize that students are our foundation and will make decisions that positively impact their learning and well-being.
