    About Me

Welcome to my classroom! My name is Elizabeth Baca and I am a graduate of Belen High School.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master of Arts degree in Education from UNM.  Expectations are high for the students this year, and their responsibilities will increase. Students must be organized; complete a more difficult & extensive curriculum and workload; use time management skills to get assignments done; and work to solve problems on their own. At the same time, they will also participate in creative learning activities and demonstrate what they know in imaginative ways.

    Curriculum

This year in ELA, we will study strategies for reading literature as well as informational text.  We will learn to read closely to draw inferences and analyze text. We will use the writing process to produce many types of writing with a focus on opinion, narrative, and informative writing. To enhance student writing, we will also study spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

In Math, we will study place value, using the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems, fractions, decimals, measurement, and geometry.

In social studies, we will study New Mexico history, geography, government, and citizenship.

In science, we will study earth and space sciences, life sciences, and energy.

Social Studies and Science are integrated into our ELA block. You may visit the Common Core State Standards Web site for additional information http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/.

    Classroom Communication

I will communicate classroom news through https://www.beleneagles.org/Domain/608, which is our class web site. I will also send home a monthly classroom newsletter. If you would like to contact me with questions or concerns, please contact me at school via e-mail at bacaea@beleneagles.org.
